Good afternoon.
Last week GMB representatives attended multiple meetings (union and staff engagement) with members of the NEAS project team, as well as colleagues from both RRV, Community Paramedics, Double Crewed Ambulance, and nursing staff interested in the Urgent Care model.
At the end of the engagement sessions, we were advised by our members that they wished to submit a collective grievance, and today we have sent emails to our members to ask if they wanted their names to be added to collective grievance. Our members highlighted the following;
- Ensures that long -serving IHCD or diploma qualified paramedics are given fair and equitable access to new roles and development pathways, including appropriate support and protected time to bridge any academic gaps where required.
- Provides meaningful, tailored support for more mature staff affected by these changes, recognising their significant contribution and ensuring that they are not disadvantaged or discriminated against at this stage of their careers whilst protecting their positions and current terms and conditions of employment (Annex 5).
- Commits to genuine and ongoing consultation with recognised trade unions prior to further implementation of these changes.
- Pauses the proposed removal of RRV/ Community Paramedic roles and gives full consideration to retaining RRV/ Community Paramedic positions for existing staff, particularly where redeployment would be inappropriate or disproportionately detrimental, until a fair and inclusive solution is reached.
We have set a deadline of the 8th May to be included in the grievance, and will update NEAS as negotiation continue.
