Good evening,
After negotiating with the Trust, the Urgent Care Model (UCM) project group has agreed to change the eligibility for colleagues wishing to either apply for Expression of Interest (EOI) or formal application.
Colleagues still need to submit either an EOI (RRV Paras and Community Paras with substantive lines) or an application form, but the following will be applied through the Accredited Prior Learning (APL) process;
- All paramedics whether through IHCD or foundation degree (FdSc) will be automatically given 60 credits at level 6
- The eCare model will be accredited 20 credits at level 6
This means that anyone who does not have the full 120 credits at level 6/7, will automatically have an extra 80 credit to add on to their total. For the people who still will not have enough credits at level 6/7, this means that there will only need a further 40 credits, and this can potentially be competed before September 2027 ready for the cohort (if successful through the rest of the processes).
As a result of this change, more colleagues should not be faced with displacement onto DCAs in September 2027 if they wish to pursue the SPUC route.
As a result of this change in criteria, the Trust has agreed to extend the application period for both EOI and new applications for SPUCs to the 20th May.
The TRAC system has been reopened for both EOI and new SPUC applicants, and people who have applied who did not state these courses or other relevant qualifications and credits will be able to reapply again, and we encourage this highlighted all qualifications that they have. Any colleagues who already have applied with 120 credits at level 6/7 do not have to reapply, and will be going through to the next process as stated in the flow chart as long as they have successfully stated their qualifications in their application.
Due to our members being unhappy with the UCM process, we formally submitted a collective grievance on their behalf (which is still open for further names until the 8th May). If you are a member who confirmed that they wanted to be part of the grievance, please can you instruct us whether you want to continue with the grievance, or if you would like us to remove your name.
